Call for Symposia proposals
We are pleased to announce the call for symposia for the IALE 2021 European Landscape Ecology Congress. The call is open for all researchers, policy makers and practitioners with a special interest in landscape ecology. To submit the proposal please use the online Symposium Proposal Form. The deadline for submitting symposia is July 1, 2020.
All submitted proposals will be considered by the Congress Scientific Committee after closing the call in summer 2020. After the review process responsible persons will be informed whether their proposals fit to the congress theme and include content that will be of interest to the landscape ecology community. If accepted, the Scientific Committee will provide feedback on the proposal and a final updated proposal based on these comments will need to be submitted. If more than one proposal overlap, then their responsible persons will be asked to join forces and lead the symposium together, as we believe some of the most exciting, and novel science happens when scientists from a range of disciplines and parts of the world collaborate.
After final acceptance the list of symposia will be published on the Congress website before the call for abstracts. When submitting abstracts potential contributors will have the possibility to indicate within which symposia they would like to present their work. After closing the call for abstracts, symposia organizers will be asked to review the abstracts assigned to their symposia and request the number of 90 minute sessions they need for their symposium. All requests will be accommodated where possible but some flexibility may be needed to ensure that there is space for all symposia.
Symposia organizers will decide independently how they want to structure their symposium and how many talks they want to host, thus it will be their responsibility to agree on the final format (oral, flash, poster, etc.) of each contribution assigned and accepted for a given symposium. However, please keep in mind that the congress organizers strongly recommend to leave ample time for discussion, mutual interaction and free exchange of thoughts, as we believe this is the core value of the events like this.
